** spoiler alert ** I wanted people I knew to read this so I could talk to them about it and those who did ended up mad at me. Within the first pages you know who is killed and by whom and you spend the rest of the book finding out why. It's a disturbing and unsettling story. I later read some information about the author that helped me understand a little about her storytelling.
As much as I love Pride and Prejudice, this may be my favorite Jane Austen book. Where P&P is light-hearted, Persuasion is melancholy. Granted, I like to be in a melancholy mood when I read it. I think I've always just connected with Anne Elliot and really felt for her.
