Not bad! I read this series in seventh and eighth grade and I was completely hooked. I like Snicket's writing style and the back of the book is always completely hilarious, but sometimes he would interrupt the plot too frequently and/or drag on, which made me frustrated.
This is one of the best pieces of American literature I ever read. The first time I read it I was a bit too young to really appreciate all of the literary elements. As a story its powerful; I find it to be a sad love story which I can easily releate to and I believe many others can as well. Once I matured in my reading the literary elements, symbolism, metaphor, etc. are amazing. Fitzgerald is a genious and this book is close to my heart.
