I am always willing to suspend disbelief in order to enjoy a good story, so I wasn't bothered by the cliched amnesia. It allowed for a lot of drama and mystery. There were other problems with this book, however. The author was trying to convey a sense of desperation and confusion in the narrator, but instead she often came off as too overwrought and annoying. The first half of the book kept me on the edge of my seat, but soon enough I could see where the book was going to end up, and the second half really dragged in getting us there. The conclusion of the book, which should have carried a lot of emotional weight, seemed tacked on when it should have been well fleshed out.
