I love LMR's heroes and Alex Cruz is no exception. :) This book was lighter and funnier than I was expecting, with Caitlin's clumsiness a source of constant teasing by Alex, and it had all the markings of a romantic comedy. But being a LMR book, it had to have some gun fighting at the end - not a big one, but climatic enough to make Alex realize his feelings for Caitlin. I really liked this book and will keep LMR as one of my auto-buy authors, but I'm beginning to wonder if she'll ever reach as high as her amazing Midnight series again. Talk about some hard shoes to fill...
"Find your place. Be happy with what you have. Treat everyone well. Live a good life. It isn't about material things; it's about love. And you can never anticipate love." Vicki Myron, along with Bret Witter, wrote a beautiful story, not just about a cat abandoned at the library, taken in, loved, adopted by most of the entire town, and eventually made pretty famous around the world, but a story about one Iowa town, its ups and downs, and one family in particular, Myron's family, who faced more than their share of heartbreak. Well written, and yes, Myron loved Dewey, but those of us who love our pets unconditionally do not, as some reviewers here have insinuated, have anything missing from their lives because of their connection to their pets. If only more people were raised to believe as we do, that all life is worthy of being cherished, the newspapers wouldn't ever carry stories of heinous abuse and callous disregard for any of God's creatures. I highly recommend this lovely story.
