I started this book and hated the first 100 pages -- it's not my typical genre. But the rest of the book was read at super fast speed!!! It was captivating and even though you knew the events were inconceivable, you believed!
I liked Book 2 more than the Book 1. The series is getting really good. Full review here: http://anotherlookbookreviews.blogspo...
This was a great start to a good series. I would give this a 3.5 not quite 4 but still good. Oliver's Grandmother will write all the Sharpe children out of her will if they don't all marry within the year. Oliver is the first to try his hand in getting his grandmother to take the threat back. Oliver comes up with a plan to go to a Brothel and pick a girl to pay to be his "fake" fiancee. Maria Butterfield finds herself in that exact brothel trying to get her cousin out who is helping her track down her fiancee. He will help her out if she helps him. This sets off a chain of events that should send his grandma reeling but the joke is on Oliver. He ends up falling for Maria. While this is going on, Oliver is trying to find out how and who murdered his parents. This book has romance and mystery. This is a great historical book. Quote: "She didn't want to think about how wrong this was or how foolish it was to give herself to a known seducer. Because tonight Oliver wasn't that man. Not to her. He was the boy who'd cried over his dead mother, the young man who'd lost himself in drink and women to forget the past, the marquess who'd vowed not to marry for money. He was the man to be her lover." "No one in life can ever match fiction" "Watch it, minx," he warned with a lift of his brow. "If you intend to taunt me for every foolish statement I've made inmy life, you'll force me to play Rockton and lock you up in my dark, forbidding manor while I have my wicked way with you." That sounds perfectly awful,"she saidn gazing at the man she loved. "How soon can we start?"
This book is truly, truly amazing. It is so good that I couldn't read it in public because I couldn't help but exclaim, out loud, stuff like, "Amazing!" or "Wow!" or "This is the best thing I've ever read!" I wish I could give it 6 stars. It is THAT good.
